"What do you think?" Burt asks as we examine a listing on KSL for a 1998 Silver Honda Civic EX. The listing says it is in mint condition, the best you will find for a car of that age. "I like it, I think it is a great deal." With that said we make an appointment to drive downtown to test drive the car at 9 o' clock at night. Everything is awesome, although the muffler is a little loud. After completing the test drive, Burt tells the seller that he wants to think about it over night. I can tell though that it was love at first sight. "We'll be back," I think to myself.
I was right, bright and early the next morning Burt texts our good friend Nick (who is a fantastic mechanic in case you need one) to see if he would be willing to take a look at the car before we make a promise to purchase it. After Nick gives his stamp of approval, we make a down payment of two hundred with a promise to be back the next day with certified funds.
Burt was beside himself with excitement for his new car all day today. As we make the cash/title/key exchange I can see that Burt is just itching to drive off with his new freedom. I however am a little dismayed that we will no longer have our carpool time to chat and laugh and visit with each other. Oh well...the smile on Burt's face makes it totally worth it.
